Merchant, Elizabeth Lodor. King Arthur and His Knights: Based on Morte d'Arthur of Sir Thomas Malory. Ill. Frank Godwin. Philadelphia: The John C. Winston Co., 1927.
Frank Godwin (1889-1959) was an outstanding technical artist and one of the premier illustrators of his day, who, in the course of his long career, applied his talents not only to periodical and book illustration but also to advertisements, cartoons, comic books, and comic strips. In 1927, Godwin provided color and black and white illustrations for King Arthur and His Knights, a volume in John C. Winston's series of classic adventure stories for younger readers. In the color illustrations, he used vivid colors in his depictions of some of the main characters and episodes from the Morte.
